About Sarah
Sarah has worked in the NHS since 1998 and practiced as a qualified Clinical Psychologist since 2005. She has vast experience of working in senior roles in several NHS Trusts, predominantly within adult physical health/medical services but also within mental health services that interface with primary care. Sarah’s most recent NHS post involved working as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead for Gastrointestinal and Intestinal Failure Services. Sarah is currently working as a Senior University Clinical Teacher based in the University of Liverpool Doctorate programme in Clinical Psychology. She provides highly specialist psychology assessments when chronic physical health illness interplay with psychological difficulties. She has experience of working with mild to severe psychological difficulties including low mood, anxiety, health anxiety, panic, stress, grief, adjustment difficulties, trauma responses, low self-esteem and relationship difficulties. Sarah believes it is important to tailor her therapeutic approach. She therefore offers evidence based clinical psychology approaches, such as, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), whilst integrating newer forms of therapy, such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused approaches (CFT) and Mindfulness. Sarah has extensive experience of providing clinical supervision to Clinical Psychologists, Trainee Clinical Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists. She also has vast experience of delivering teaching and training in psychological models. Sarah holds The British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited Stage 1 Qualification in Sport and Exercise Psychology and is currently an Honorary Fellow at Staffordshire University. Sarah is attached to the Sport and Exercise Psychology programmes and has taught around the mental health aspects of performance, using psychological models to embed learning.
